Warner titles flood Prime Video: 'The Batman', 'Dune', 'Godzilla vs. Kong', and more.

Outside of HBO Max, Warner keeps licencing nonstop. Once again, the spotlight is on Prime Video.

About Warner’s plans to weather its current financial storm, we have previously spoken at length. Since canceling completed series and movies is typically not very popular, licensing is one of the tactics that is bringing the most satisfaction to platform users. Everything is going to be available everywhere now that the exclusivity age is finished.

This has effectively split the platforms into two enormous sections. First, there are the companies like Disney+, HBO, and SkyShowtime that still see exclusive content as their primary source of revenue. However, there are also services that have evolved into repositories for content from other creators; for example, while Netflix and Prime Video do offer some unique and entertaining original programming, you can also find a wide variety of shows and movies from networks like HBO on these services.

In this way, Prime Video has become the exclusive distributor and broadcaster of a number of Warner Bros. films. If you’re interested in any of them, don’t wait too long to see them; HBO will reintroduce them at some point. Here are a few of the most noteworthy that have made it to Amazon: including, as you can see, some of the most recent box office hits, as well as some rare gems and auteur features.

The decision by Warner Bros. to distribute “Dune” by Denis Villeneuve and “Godzilla vs. Kong” by Adam Wingard to HBO Max on the same day as their theatrical premieres has allegedly prompted Legendary Entertainment to sue the studio. Legal letters will be sent to Warner Bros. by Legendary “as soon as today,” according to Deadline. Legendary has been contacted by IndieWire for additional comment. Following the success of “Wonder Woman 1984,” Warner Bros. has stated that all of its 2021 films will premiere simultaneously on HBO Max and in cinemas. The first thirty-one days after a film’s release, you can watch it online for free.

According to sources who spoke with Deadline, Legendary Entertainment executives were informed thirty minutes before Warner Bros. made the public announcement that “Dune” and “Godzilla vs. Kong” will be released in a hybrid theatrical/HBO Max format. Legendary reportedly had an agreement in place for Netflix to buy “Godzilla vs. Kong” for approximately $250 million, but WarnerMedia, the parent company of Warner Bros., halted the deal. This news broke earlier this month.

Along with “putting up a similar amount of funding on the ‘Godzilla Vs. King’ film,” Legendary Entertainment and its partners “provided 75 percent of the $165 million or so net budget of ‘Dune,'” according to Deadline. Executives at Legendary are now concerned that transferring the films to streaming services may damage “the long term viability of the franchises.”

“Godzilla vs. Kong” by Wingard follows “Godzilla,” “Kong: Skull Island,” and “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” as Legendary’s fourth MonsterVerse entry. Meanwhile, Herbert’s six novels serve as the basis for a cinematic and television series that Villeneuve’s “Dune” is meant to launch. Villeneuve was only willing to helm one of the two films based on the novel “Dune” because Warner Bros. and Legendary allowed him to do so. There has been no announcement on a second “Dune” film from Villeneuve.

On May 21, 2021, “Godzilla vs. Kong” will reportedly hit theaters and HBO Max. The hybrid opening of “Dune” is scheduled for October 1, 2021. Originally set to premiere on December 18, 2020, Villeneuve’s science-fiction epic was delayed until 2021 due to the epidemic.

One of the most prolific film score composers of all time is Hans Zimmer, who has won two Oscars and four Grammys. From “The Lion King” to “The Dark Knight” trilogy to the “Dune” movies—a career spanning over 40 years—he continues to produce without signs of slowing down. Retirement is not in the cards for the near future.

“Do you think I’m crazy? All my life, I’ve been playing. For what reason should I cease participating? Why should I give up being carefree? If I were to quit attempting to come up with new ideas, why would I? For what reason? According to Zimmer, who spoke to IndieWire, there are valid reasons for this. “Oh my god, I have no idea how to do this” is what Zimmer says whenever he sits down to write. “After two weeks, I intend to contact the director and provide him with the contact information of a composer who is capable, but there is this inherent contradiction in my desire to try something fresh; it’s the truth.”

According to Zimmer, there is an unwritten piece of music that he believes is excellent but has no idea how to access. This piece has not materialized yet, therefore I must rush to acquire it. Every single thing is being tested. All of it is merely striving to draw nearer to, I don’t know, an emotional reality. “Oh my God, I am completely clueless about how to do this.”

In a live discussion held at New York City’s The Whitby Hotel on March 14, Zimmer addressed the question of whether he uses other compositions as inspiration for his own. “I can’t listen to somebody else when I’m writing, so I listen to very little music,” Zimmer explained. I have no qualms about stealing from it or anything like that. Because it’s complete, even the weakest musical composition can be hailed as a masterpiece in my ears. When I listen to music that isn’t my favorite, I find myself comparing myself to it.

“My taste is a bit peculiar,” Zimmer progressed. “The Clash—a lot of The Clash! Beethoven, Manu Chao, and The Clash!” Tangerine Dreams—that’s a lot. My classical music knowledge is decent for someone with such a weak classical education, but my Sex Pistol knowledge is probably even greater.

“Dune: Part Two” is Zimmer’s latest work. According to David Ehrlich, who shared our review, the score is “a bittersweet wail that cuts deeper than any of the music he wrote for ‘Part One’ and sustains the emotion of this movie long after the script has run out of steam.”
