David Copperfield accused of sexual assault

The well-known American magician, who is 67 years old, is being accused of sexual misconduct by sixteen different women, some of whom were minors at the time of the incidents, according to an inquiry that was carried out by the “Guardian.” Moreover, three of them assert that he drugged them before committing the act of rape on them.

On Wednesday, May 15, the British newspaper The Guardian revealed that sixteen women, some of whom were minors at the time of the crimes they denounced, have accused the famous American conjurer David Copperfield of sexual abuse. Copperfield is accused of sexually assaulting these women. Three of these women claim that the magician was under the influence of drugs prior to engaging in sexual contact with them, and they believe that they could not have consented to this behaviour.

According to the American edition of the British media, during the course of its research, which spans from the late 1980s to 2014, the American edition claims to have studied police and court files, as well as spoken to more than one hundred individuals.

The attorneys representing David Copperfield, who is 67 years old, stated to the publication that their client had denied any misconduct and had “never behaved inappropriately with anyone, let alone a minor for that matter.”

In the 1990s, the illusionist famously disappeared the Statue of Liberty and had an affair with the German model Claudia Schiffer. Both of these events contributed to the illusionist’s widespread fame.

He was accused of sexual assault in 2018 by Brittney Lewis, who had previously worked as a model in the United States. The latter, who also spoke to the newspaper, asserts that she was drugged and sexually abused when she was a youngster thirty years ago. She also claims that she told the newspaper about the incident. These allegations were brought to light, and David Copperfield responded by denying everything.

Allegations of physical contact on stage

Other women who were interviewed by The Guardian have leveled allegations that the magician has touched them while he was performing on stage. Another woman, who is being referred to by a pseudonym, asserts that she got to know Mr. Copperfield when she was 15 years old. She stated that he would phone her late at night and give her gifts in the years that followed, declaring that she had become “conditioned” as a result of this behavior. She stated that they had sexual relations with mutual consent when she reached 18 years old. As stated by Mr. Copperfield’s legal representatives, the magician insists that their connection, which lasted for a period of four years, was lawful and “vehemently denies any idea of conditioning or any other misconduct.”

Some of the names that are stated in the court documents that pertain to the case of Jeffrey Epstein, an American financier who committed suicide in prison in 2019 before he could be punished for sex crimes and trafficking, include David Copperfield’s name. Copperfield was one of the individuals who committed suicide. Nevertheless, the mere fact that his name is mentioned there does not in any way imply that he has participated in activity that is either criminal or morally repugnant.

The attorneys for the conjurer gave the Guardian their word that their client was unaware of Epstein’s heinous deeds. However, when Agence France-Presse attempted to get in touch with Mr. Copperfield’s representatives, they did not directly answer.
