One of the most beloved science fiction flicks visited amusement parks.

Amusement parks, yes. They are part of corporations’ entertainment empire in the US and have a financial importance comparable to movies. Thus, films with actors and directors from the original franchises are frequently made as canonical sequels, adapted to various attractions.

Some examples? Disney California Adventure’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout!’ stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel (Groot). Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson reprised their roles in Universal Studios parks’ “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” and “Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts.” However, none had the ambition and success of ‘Back to the Future: The Ride’.

Taking place after ‘Back to the Future Part III’, when Biff Tannen, the villain, takes Doc’s DeLorean, the half-hour picture acts as a quarter of the narrative. The attraction debuted in May 1991, a year after the third film, which was released four months after the second, which was shot simultaneously. First at Universal Studios Florida on May 2, 1991, then at Universal Studios Hollywood and finally at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka in 2001.

Christopher Lloyd and Thomas F. Wilson reprise Doc Brown and Biff Tannen in 1991, the attraction’s current visitors’ year. Institute of Future Technology founder Doc Brown. When Biff steals a DeLorean, Doc enlists the guests, who ride an eight-passenger DeLorean on a chase that takes them back to the Jurassic, 2015, and 1955 Hill Valley.

A motion simulator at ‘Back to the Future: The Ride’ provided eight passengers the illusion of being on a Delorean while viewing a 180-degree IMAX dome screen. The projection used wind, smoke, and strobe lights to make the ride more realistic and fast.

As Back to the Future lost popularity, a Simpsons-themed rollercoaster replaced it. In it, the creators referenced the ride that before it with Comic Book Guy in Marty’s futuristic jacket, Christopher Lloyd’s animated Doc Brown, and the Future Institute of Technology, which Doc must sell to Professor Frink. Since 2010, domestic copies of Back to the Future: The Ride have included the restored and re-edited film.

Since Back to the Future is one of the most beloved trilogies, Back to the Future 4 news keeps popping up. The original film introduced Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and the time-traveling DeLorean that took him back to 1955 to save Marty’s future with Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd). The huge success led to two sequels before Marty McFly and Doc Brown’s story seemed done. Since then, Hollywood whispers about Back to the Future 4 have persisted.

Many fans worry about damaging the legacy of a strong and cherished Back to the Future trilogy, but others would love to return to this franchise after all these years. Though there have been rumors of a franchise revival, they rarely materialize. In an age when Hollywood is resurrecting old movies, it seems like the time to take Back to the Future 4 news seriously.
