The new ‘Star Wars’ series is a success because it has a concise and straightforward narrative and contains likable characters.
‘Andor’ was going to be a singular occurrence, which was a belief held by many people (I was the first). A plot that is succinct, reasonably original in its tone (different from the typical epic in the saga, although it was not the first time), and with a few surprises along its development (the best of which was shifting a spy story into one of jail escapes in the middle of the season). That this was not going to happen again, and that it would be even more unfortunate if, following the failure of “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” the next “Star Wars” series was going to center on a Jedi.
On the other hand, ‘Ahsoka’ has been a surprising and enjoyable experience. Mysticism, adventure in a more or less pure condition, and political intrigue are all elements that, depending on the nature of the series, tilt in one direction or another (just look at which foot ‘The Mandalorian’ or ‘Andor’ limped on.’ -each his own-, for example). There is a perfect balance between these elements. Every single type of ‘Star Wars’ fan will get their fair share: I really wish that the Disney epic had always been able to function with such efficiency.
Rosario Dawson, who plays the titular Jedi, is possibly the most remarkable addition to the cast of the story in many years. This discovery is mostly due to Rosario Dawson’s overwhelming charm, which stems from the fact that she is playing the character. She is able to infuse her persona with the transcendence and spirituality that are intrinsic to the Jedi religion, while at the same time maintaining her capacity for empathy and closeness. One who does not provide empty lectures about the Force, but who is of sufficient moral height to act as a heroine, she is the ideal protagonist because she consistently demonstrates a kind and sometimes sardonic knowledge of everything that is going on around her.
There are many moments of wonder throughout the series, all about the star whales, the map that appears almost magically in the sky, or the Macbethian Great Mothers, among many other details. Despite the fact that the series has some flaws, such as the interlude that occurs before the final climax, which features a somewhat low-key encounter with Ezra Bridger, who has been followed throughout the series, there are many moments of wonder. As a matter of fact, the antagonists are just as impressive as the protagonists, ranging from the Jedi mercenaries Kanan Jarrus and his Padawan to the Grand Admiral Thrawn.
‘Ahsoka’ takes what was successful in ‘Andor’ and, for instance, presents a straightforward narrative that does not have a lot of twists and turns. It focuses on its three heroines, about whom there is not much to explain because they were familiar with each other from ‘The Clone Wars’: Ahsoka, Sabine Wren, and General Sindulla (another excellent, close, and nuanced incarnation of Mary Elizabeth Winstead). We are only a few times away from them, and we only go to a few different locations. The storytelling continues to be succinct, rapid, and straightforward.
It is without a doubt the most important point that ‘Ahsoka’ presents, and that is whether or not this is the only method to expand the business. Possibly not, but the fact of the matter is that these “small-scale” stories that he has grown with such success together with “The Mandalorian” and “Andor,” in addition to the questionable results of the most recent trilogy that was published in theaters, make it worthwhile for Disney to consider it. Although the setting and the mythos are the same, ‘Ahsoka’ is a space adventure that is not only entertaining but also full of memorable characters and a lot of feeling. This is not “The Rise of Skywalker.”
In the end, the solution is the classic one to create good stories , and it is far removed from convoluted commercial operations to maintain dying franchises with artificial respiration or to have tons of fan-service (of which ‘Ahsoka’ is also served, undoubtedly in one of the least successful moments of the season). We discuss the need to focus on the characters and the conflicts they face, as well as the storylines and the surprises they contain. When it comes to telling things in a way that is effective, ‘Ahsoka’ performs an excellent job.
At each and every Star Wars Celebration, the company makes significant announcements. While the return of Lars Mikkelsen as Thrawn, the release date of the second season of Andor, and the debut of Ahsoka’s trailer were all very exciting, there was one statement that jumped out more than the rest.
We have been waiting for some concrete news on the return of Star Wars to the big screen for quite some time, and now we have discovered that not one, not two, but three movies are now in the process of being developed. In the most unexpected turn of events that occurred over the weekend, one of these films is going to bring back Daisy Ridley’s character, Rey.
There are three unique time periods that will be depicted in each of the three coming films. The movie directed by James Mangold will take place during the early days of the Jedi, and Dave Filoni will be responsible for bringing together the many narratives from The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and other Disney+ shows.
The film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and written by Steven Knight, the head of Peaky Blinders, will take place about 15 years after the events in The Rise of Skywalker. This film is perhaps the most intriguing (and unexpected) of the new films. During this time, Rey will make her return and make an effort to establish a new Jedi Order.
It is now after the war, after the First Order, and the Jedi are in a state of disorder. The question “Who are the Jedi?” is one that generates a lot of conversation. How are they going about it? In an interview with IGN, Kathleen Kennedy, CEO of Lucasfilm, asked, “What is the current state of the galaxy?”
“[Rey is] attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order, based on the books, based on what she promised Luke, so that’s where we’re going.” At this point, that is about all the information that we have about the new movie; yet, there is already some uncertainty over it. Despite the fact that it was previously believed that The Rise of Skywalker would be the concluding chapter of the Skywalker narrative, this new film may give the impression that the narrative was merely taking a short break.
It goes without saying that the Skywalker family, and more specifically Luke, Leia, and their beloved father Anakin, also known as Darth Vader, were the most important characters in the Skywalker Saga. Despite the fact that Luke made a cameo appearance in The Rise of Skywalker as a Force ghost to Rey, all of them are now formally out of the picture.
Furthermore, it is true that Rey is technically a Palpatine; nevertheless, in the controversial and ostensibly concluding installment of the Skywalker Saga, she choose to take on the name Skywalker. Therefore, the fact that Rey is going to return indicates that the upcoming film will continue to be about a Skywalker, just like all of the other films in the Skywalker Saga, unless she has some sort of change of heart.
