The corporation wants its parallel universe series to be more conservative.

The second season of What If…? has introduced us to alternate universes, unimaginable realities, and scenarios that could never happen in the MCU. A playground for scriptwriters to do and undo, with limits.

That’s what production writer and editor Matthew Chauncey said when he proposed mixing Star Wars with Marvel. Bryan Andrews, director and executive producer, said the notion was “absolutely viable.”

Kevin [Feige] may not want to cross certain lines. Yes, we proposed it. We have a Marvel/Star Wars crossover. And I think it was possible. (…) Very enjoyable. Once you know why, you’re like, ‘Oh, that… oh, right!’ Completely logical. It won’t ruin anyone’s party. But it was a classic Star Wars love letter. It was fantastic. Not sure if we’ll ever succeed. But we’ve considered that.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the screenplays were written between January and October 2020, and the societal atmosphere prevented a new superhero.

Disney discarded this idea and contemplated a Spider-Man episode with huge potential. The series’ writer and showrunner, AC Bradley, told IGN that the wall-crawler would have a dark episode.

Bradley is talking to the 2006 Clive Owen film about a world without humanity. Peter Parker may not fit into a comparable circumstance where humans are extinction-bound.

Multiple Marvel Comics Multiverse superheroes are called “Spider-Man”. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s Earth-616-born Peter Parker is the most famous. In the mainstream Marvel Universe, Ben Reilly, Mac Gargan, Otto Octavius, and Kurt Wagner have worn the mantle.

In various realities, Spider-Man has multiple forms. Famous characters include the Ultimate Peter Parker and his successor, Miles Morales, an alternate future version named Miguel O’Hara, Mayday Parker, a Great Depression-era Peter Parker, a universe where Peter’s supporting character, Gwen Stacy, becomes Spider-Woman, and talking animal parodies like Spider-Ham. In storylines like “Spider-Verse”, “Web Warriors”, and Spider-Geddon, teams like Spider-Army and Web-Warriors are led by many different Spider-themed characters. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its sequel featured several of these characters. Secret Wars (2015) temporarily combined several of these characters into the Spider-Man family.

Marvel Multiverse versions have linked characters. These characters joined the mainstream Spider-Man family after appearing in their own continuity. After all parallel comic book universes were destroyed in 2015, only a handful characters entered Earth-616, including Spider-Men.

Spider-Man has partnered with Superman twice in DC Comics crossovers, defeating Doctor Octopus and Lex Luthor and stopping Doctor Doom from giving the Parasite long-term access to the Hulk and Wonder Woman’s powers. He and Batman defeated Carnage and the Joker, then the Kingpin and Ra’s al Ghul, with Fisk eventually helping the heroes.

Deadpool is offered a position in Samurai Squad, the Avengers’ Japanese section, in the alternate world Deadpool Samurai manga series on Earth-346. Spider-Man grants Deadpool’s request before he leaves for Japan. Spider-Man lets Deadpool hold him while he web-slings through New York City after Deadpool asks it.[2]

Earth X and its sequels disclose Peter Parker’s identity as Spider-Man and strip him of his heroic status. Over time, he gains weight and aged like his uncle. His daughter joins to the Venom symbiote and battles criminals after his wife dies, much to his dismay. In the series, he becomes a cop. Three more related characters occur.

An African American homeless man was mutated from the Terrigen Mist into red reptilian skin with black lines in the same reality. He can capture victims in illusions with his Energy Web. Known as “Spiders Man”.

On this Earth, Spider-Man’s mutation rendered him blue, gave him a spider-like language, and allowed him to construct webs that affect Iron Man’s armor and Doctor Strange’s magic and repel the Thing’s monsters. Webs surrounding Hell’s Kitchen as Spider-Man’s territory for him and his gang (Daredevil, Hawkeye, Shang-Chi, Iron Fist, Colleen Wing, and Misty Knight). To rescue Moonstone and Skaar from Strangetown, the Dark Avengers had to cross Spider-Man’s domain, where they encountered his gang.[3] Ai Apaec tells Spider-Man in spider-like language that they are good guys after Spider-Man’s gang defeats the Dark Avengers, assuming they are knockoffs. Spider-Man frees them from webs. In Strangetown, the Dark Avengers and Spider-Man’s gang fight Doctor Strange’s All-Seeing Eye and Soulsnake. Spider-Man is slain by Tigra after Doctor Strange says his two creations were sacrificed to bring him down.[4]
